Upon initial inspection, carpet was damp with a fresh water line indicating a low level issue for this vehicle. Engine oil inspection confirmed as it was clear and clean. Car fired up immediately with the installation of a new battery. Old battery was dead from sitting on auction lot, but charged back up with a slow trickle. New battery stays with the car.
As a precaution with all water issues, all fluids were changed for new; 10w30 Mobile 1 engine oil with Viper filter; 4Qts Mopar ATF+4 in the transmission and a quart of Mopar 75w80 with additive friction modifier in rear differential. Runs and drives perfect, just like a 7,000 mile Viper.
Interior inspection always necessitates full disassembly of interior, doors, waterfall panel behind seats and full dash. Carpet was pulled and fully steamed cleaned to like new. With carpeting and panels removed, the car was cleaned and restored back with full Dynamat Extreme on all interior cabin floors (see pics), waterfall area and transmission tunnel for sound deadening and heat deflection.
All key electronic modules and switches were removed, cleaned and tested. While nearly all worked as designed, as a standard, we changed out the wireless remote module with NOS unit and programmed 2 key fobs. Windshield wiper module had evidence of moisture so was also replaced; wipers work perfectly. Stereo head unit was replaced as a standard with our restorations as the older replacement units are outdated (see upgrades below). We also changed out the HVAC control unit which was working fine, but we replaced with a unit from a similar low mileage viper anyway. The trunk mounted amplifier also worked fine, but was replaced with a new unit. Charged and checked the AC. Works great.
All fuses, timer and relays were changed out as a standard also, but all worked as designed and showed no evidence of moisture. We even pulled the front headlamps, fully disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. No dust inside now and they look and function like brand new. Fog light lens are like new too.
The Viper runs, drives and operates flawlessly. Tires were nearly new, so remain on the car. We added new Sneaky Pete wheel center caps, as most were missing from the original wheels. Car maintains its original spare, with jack pack in original bag. The original window sticker is also with the car and in great shape!
After review and disassembly of the interior, as noted previously (see photos too), the cabin area was fully upgraded with Dynamat Extreme. With the door panels off, door speakers were upgraded to 2 way, Mopar upgrade Kicker speakers, so 2 tweeters per door now. Rear original subwoofer was dry rotted from age, so the box was fiber filled for sound, with a new Pyle Subwoofer installed.
Stereo head unit was upgraded to a Panasonic 7” fold out screen unit, with custom USB and headphone jacks in place of the ashtray (easily restored back to original ashtray). Bluetooth, Sirius Satellite ready (just need to sign up an account, as the unit is working with Sirius now). When USB connected to Iphone or Android: car play, Maps with Navigation, Spotify and more all available on touch screen. Super unit, sounds great.
After review of all gauges, which work perfectly, an LED lighting upgrade was installed to all gauges and interior lights (license plate lights too). Looks super at night with stereo (see pics).
AC knobs were upgraded to MGW knobs too. Lowered shifter with custom matching Speed Dawg Gen 2 knob installed. Custom theme-matching leather interior with diamond pattern stitching & Sneaky Pete logo in headrest were installed with padding added as needed. New Lloyds Gen 2 Viper mats added too. Short-Shifter, interior, Lloyds mats all custom matching the paint corrected/buffed Viper black with silver stripes.
Engine bay modifications included smooth tube intakes, K&N air filters and custom black powder coated valve covers with new black billet Mobile 1 oil cap.
The clutch appears a little squishy, so upon detailed inspection we found the slave cylinder with a leak. We pulled the transmission and replaced the cylinder with a brand new unit.
Front tie rod ends were working fine, but the grease boots had cracked from age so both were replaced. Suspension was inspected and then detailed (see photos). We added a hard top and upgraded the latching hardware with modern handles from ViperPartsUSA. We added a rear window as the car did not have one, with new locks, 2 Viper window keys and a brand new gasket from Temple Performance.
Trunk area still contains original spare, jack pack and rear window bag. We added a support board for the newly added gen 2 Lloyd's trunk mat to finish the black/silver motif for the entire car.
The car is now entered in 3 car shows in Feb, Mar and April. It’s beautiful, never an accident, super low miles and any item that could have an issue was replaced.
